Department Info: The GI Lab is IP/OP unit within VMC. The Lab also operates an OP facility, ECEC, which is a co-venture with ECU GI. Between the the 2 facilities there are 5 licensed procedure rooms. Hours of operation are 7am-5pm M-F. We offer 24/7 coverage for our patient population. Call is provided by the GI staff after hours and weekends. Gastroenterologist and GI surgeons perform services in the lab.
Scope of Service: The GI Lab offers such procedures as Upper Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, EUS, ERCP, Esophageal and Rectal Manometry, 24 hr ph, Breath Hydrogen
Responsibilities
Twenty-four hour accountability for Program Management and Program Planning. -Maintains 24-hour accountability for unit operations. Initiates, monitors and/or participates in program development, implementation, evaluation and revisions. Sets, implements and evaluates program goals and outcomes in alignment with Vidant Medical Center mission, values, and strategic plans. Provides written policies and procedures, keeps job descriptions current, and maintains other important documentation. Promotes public relations to increase customer awareness of services provided.
Participates in the formulation and implementation of interdisciplinary unit and divisional QAI activities. Monitors quality outcomes by utilizing trending data and benchmarking. Serves as change agent in department and organizational transformations. Creates an environment for empowerment and continuous quality improvement. Initiates, utilizes and/or participates in studies or research projects designed for improvements.
Human Resource Management and Staff Development. Supervises, evaluates, commends, disciplines, mentors, and supports staff. Provides necessary data to support patient care needs. Supports staff development by facilitating the assessment of educational needs and identification of needed resources.
Evaluates the impact of staff development, endeavors. Adheres to legal and organizational requirements related to personnel management. Assumes responsibility for personal clinical competence and continuing education including maintenance of professional credentials. Utilizes workload data to justify and adjust staffing needs. Participates and adheres to overall hospital financial plan. Coordinates the development of and adherence to budget. Identifies and encourages cost saving opportunities. Plans for capital expenditures and expansion of services with medical staff and others as appropriate. Serves as divisional resource and/or participates on designated committees. Creates climate to maintain and facilitate open lines of communication for the promotion of effective working relationships. Coordinates department functions with other hospital departments/services and community resources.
Serves as a consultant within the hospital and for the community in the assessment, development and implementation of services or programs. Demonstrates support of research mission of the organization through support of research activities in department or program. Assists with identification of research topics. Assist in evaluation of the relevance of research efforts specific to department or program. Participates in the interpretation of data for department or program=s patient population. Keeps current on research findings in clinical specialty area for department or program. Assists staff in interpreting and implementing research findings in department or program.
Minimum Position Requirements
BSN with Management training; Continuous Improvement Training Registration or Certification
Current NC RN license
At least five (5) years clinical experience, preferably GI Endoscopy or other procedural areas, inpatient and outpatient setting.
Five years of clinical experience is required, but one year should be in a beginning level management experience or one year additional graduate education substituted for one year of experience with a maximum substitution of two years.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
