Physician (Radiologist)

This position is in the Radiology Service at the VA Health Care Center, Greenville, NC (VAGVL). VAGVL is seeking a General Diagnostic Radiologist (experience or certification in Neuroradiology preferred but not required) to interpret a full range of general diagnostic imaging modality exams to include ultrasound, MRI, CT, plain film, DEXA and fluoroscopy. Occasional fluoroscopic guided arthrograms are also required. The incumbent will serve as a Staff Radiologist and will be responsible for shared oversight of service protocols, technologists and service practices, interdisciplinary communication and interaction with Clinical Services to achieve Best Practice standards and maintain high quality patient care. The incumbent will facilitate, implement, and maintain process quality improvement activities and optimize utilization of imaging resources. The incumbent will also act as the designated Radiology Lead during times of absence of the Lead Radiologist. Generic Duties:
Radiologists are physicians who have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited radiology residency program, or an equivalent foreign program, and who perform and interpret diagnostic imaging or interventional studies. Radiologists follow the guidelines of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM) regarding the Standard of Practice, and they are guided by the Appropriateness Criteria developed by ACR. The physician administers the activities of the Service to include:
Acting as consultants to clinical services. As licensed independent practitioners, radiologists may change the ordering physician's request to a more appropriate study, may expand upon the ordered study or limit it, and may order imaging studies, taking care to consult the treating physician whenever possible. Radiologists will act in the patient's interest in ensuring studies are indicated and safe. Documenting their procedures, consultations and healthcare decisions in the medical record. Communicating emergent findings directly to the treating physician /Service in a timely manner. Directing the activities of residents, technologists, and nurses assisting them. Supervising the administration of medications, including contrast agents, by technologists and/or nurses. Participating in quality assurance activities to improve patient safety, performance, and quality of care. Development of, and adherence to, standard procedures and protocols. Maintaining a safe radiation environment. Ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality of patient medical information; Ensuring accurate CPT coding. Ensuring compliance with federal statues, VA directives and polices, and The Joint Commission standards. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Board Certification in Radiology Reference:
VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements:
Light lifting (under 15 lbs), light carrying (under 15 lbs), use of fingers, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other, hearing (aid permitted), emotional stability, mental stability.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
